About us What is Account417?Account417 is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to spur Christians and non-Christians to embrace a lifestyle of radical generosity and see it as a pleasureful, satisfying way of life and not as a pure obligation. Our goal is no less than to spark a revolution which will remind the world that our God is not gold, our God is good. Are you going to ask for money?Absolutely not. We do accept unsolicited donations, but never ask for money or do fundraising. God provides everything we need. In fact, check out our tax return from last year. Go ahead. Do it. Why Account417?In Philippians 4:17, Paul says, “Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account.” We are not looking for your gifts. We want to see people fill their eternal accounts by helping others and living a lifestyle of insane generosity that is set apart from the rest of the world.Is this all theory? Do You guys actually do anything?We accomplish our mission through our event (Margin & Meaning), our books (“Building Your Financial Fortress in 52 Days” and the soon-to-be-published “Embezzlement”), one-on-one counseling (M&M Coaching), small group study (52 Days SGS), and videos (417 Vids). In other words, we’re in way over our heads. It takes multiple full-time red bull drips to keep us going.Is this one of those name-it-and-claim-it, prosperity gospel rackets?No way. Frankly, we’re a little offended you would ask us that. We believe in a lifestyle of simplicity that enables us to live an unfettered life so that we may help others and feel the true pleasure that comes from it. That’s it. The only riches you’ll have following our plan are True Riches (1 Timothy 6:17-19).Are you trying to convince me to give to a particular organization?Nope. This is about more than writing a check to a some charity. It’s about heart change and life change. Do you guys actually give?Although we sometimes give monetarily to people in need, our contributions are usually in the form of a car for a single mom or food for a needy family or counsel for those who are struggling. But we really love to partner with others who "get it" (like a guy we know named John who he loves to give us cars to give to single moms) It's crazy, you ought to check out the video, and then maybe you could catch this kind of pleasure or meaning we call it and contact us to be the delivery boys!!!!I need financial help. We will do our best to get back to you promptly, but it’s not always possible.OKay, great.But who are you?We are Kevin Cross and Steve White (not pictured) plus a couple other volunteers. Below you will find his short bio (but if you want the whole story, check out the autobiography. It’s complete with embezzlement, romance, jail, the mafia, and, of course, ladies garden shoes. We’re just a couple guys with a passion for this message and we felt there was a lack of honest ministries doing this work, so we decided to shed the corporate monkey suits and change the world. Kevin's Cross's BioAfter 17 years of leading one of South Florida’s best-known Christian accounting and tax practices, Kevin has embraced the life that is truly life and now dedicates all his time to communicating God’s message of “Margin and Meaning”. He passionately pursues this goal through the “Margin and Meaning Life Change Event” (marginandmeaning.com), sermons, his website (account417.com), and his latest book, “Building Your Financial Fortress in 52 Days”. His works have been published in magazines around the country and his new autobiography, “Embezzlement”, is slated for release in the spring of 2010. His ministry, Account417, has recently been featured on CNN, NPR, The Miami Herald and the New York Times. Kevin is now leading a revolution in generosity from his position as the Stewardship Director at Fellowship Bible Church in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1988, following an arrest, expulsion from law school, and over $100 thousand dollars in debt, Kevin was employed as a hotel valet when God touched his life in a profound way. Wearing women’s garden shoes (because they were cheaper) and parking the gleaming Jaguar of Channel 10 Miami News Anchor Dwight Lauderdale, he turned the radio dial and happened upon a show hosted by Larry Burkett. Burkett’s words that night changed his spending habits, but they also changed his heart.In 1990, God led him to close his office each Thursday and offer free budget and financial counseling to everyone in the community. The life change Kevin witnessed during this time served as inspiration to sell the firm and do ministry full-time. During his 17 years in practice, he spoke frequently about taxes and finances on local radio shows and tax and accounting professionals seminars. As well as being published by CPA Today Magazine, Kevin has a Masters degree in taxation, and has passed the US Treasury Special Enrollment Exam (EA).His speaking engagements have brought him to many churches in the U.S. and as far away as Washington DC, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Brazil. He is currently the acting chair of the FICPA Federal Tax Committee represents the 20,000 CPAs in Florida and communicates with them through their annual conferences. His fervent goal is to see 100,000 people per year embracing the life that is truly life and one person per day accepting Christ as their Savior.
